I needed a snack last night, so I started off with 1/2 cup TJ’s greek yogurt topped with a little less than a cup of cereal (honey bunches of oats), plus 1 teaspoon of almond butter.
I woke up around 9:30 (not hungry at all). I did a 30-minute workout from OnDemand (Dorm Room Workout, designed for a small space), then 2 more 10-minute exercises (AM yoga and pilates for abs). I showered and woke up Bobby, but still wasn’t hungry! It was nearing 11:30 by then. We decided to walk to Castro (about 1 mile) for some Mountain View wine&art festival. I brought a plum and an apple just in case, but didn’t end up eating them. We stopped at Diyar for lunch. I got a greek salad. I also had Bobby’s roasted tomato, a bit of his salad, some hummus, and a few bites of his chicken kebab.
It was so hot that we took a break from walking and went to the library. I got a few books, and I started Rethinking Thin, by Gina Kolata. She’s from Princeton (my old hometown). So far it’s amazing – I’m about halfway through. It gives so much history and background of all the different diets that this country has seen, and it’s very informative. There’s a section that talks about late-night eating that really hit home for me. I also picked up some foreign films and a few other books. Yes, I’m a library addict.
After the library we went back to the festival and I had a few samples – Oikos blueberry yogurt (yum!), 2 bites of different Luna bars (I’m not a big fan), and I was going to have a vegan ice cream, but they ran out I also got a granola sample that I haven’t tried yet.
Bobby got a lemonade at the festival, and I ate the 1/2 lemon out of it. I love lemons. When we got back I made myself a lemon drink of my own – talking rain seltzer plus 1/2 lemon, juiced. I ate that lemon, too… And then I made myself another drink
I fell asleep for 30 minutes around 4:00p while I was reading my new book. It’s not boring, but I was exhausted after walking around in the heat for so long. When I woke up I had an apple and a slice of turkey.
Before dinner I snacked on some baby carrots and hummus (no pic). For dinner I made whole wheat couscous, stir-fry with organic free-range apple-gouda chicken sausage and lots of veggies, and Bobby had shrimp gyoza (I had a small bite). I had seconds of everything you see here – I took the picture before I’d put hardly any couscous on my plate!
Tomorrow is the farmers’ market, so I’ll post all of my various goodies for you. I may have a snack later but I’m trying to hold out. I’m not hungry, but I’m in the habit of having one anyway. If I do actually get hungry, I’ll be sure to post about it!
Edited to add:
- another small plum
- a few baby carrots and hummus
- a few bites of leftover couscous with some almond butter
Nothing too substantial, just some snacking!
