Salad, yoga, & shopping

Salad of the day:

12-wednesday-salad

  • 1 romaine heart base
  • toppings: veggie “kinpira” of carrot, mushrooms, peas, cinnamon, sugar, & chili powder (sauteed in sesame oil)
  • protein: 2 tablespoons parmesan
  • dressing: annie’s lite honey mustard vinaigrette (new!)

Yoga of the day:

The other day I mentioned that my favorite dressing is newman’s own lowfat sesame ginger.  Whole Foods didn’t have it today, so I got some others to try – annie’s lite gingerly vinaigrette, annie’s lite honey mustard vinaigrette, and whole foods organic ginger soy vinaigrette.  So far I’ve only tried the honey mustard; it’s delicious.  It’s not as good as newman’s own though.

I got this interesting jerky made by SnackMasters – Ahi Tuna Jerky!  I hope it’s good.  Bobby and I both love tuna.

I’m headed off to yoga in about 10 minutes… What’s your favorite new/recent product discovery?  I’m actually not sure what mine is.  I have been loving dairy, and I just found Wallaby’s organic lowfat yogurt.

  1. Frozen mixed berries in my morning oatbran/oatmeal! It makes the bowl nice and pink/purple, and gives it a great fresh taste.

  2. hi Maggie dear!!! I miss you!

Tell me more about those calcium chews. You know I am with your on the no dairy thing… so sad!! But, so good for our skin/belly! Are there any funky ingredients in them? I have found some, but they often contain fake sugars and other such yucky things. (sucralose = yuck)

Love you!!! hope your yoga and yummies and life are sweet!

  3. I’ve been loving the dairy lately, too – and I think it’s behind some of my recent tummy troubles 🙁 Oh dairy, why must you taste so good?

I love today’s salad! And I agree with you on the Annie’s dressing – good, but not as good as Newman’s Own.

Ahi tuna jerky?! Haha, that’s awesome. I love me some turkey jerky once in a while. Gotta get my sodium intake!

I’m going to have to check out that calcium link.

  4. How funny! I had a Wallaby yogurt today for lunch, and I just bought the same box of Calcium (WF was out of Adora, my usual favorite).

  5. Yay, I’m glad you tried the Annie’s Lite dressing! It’s so hard to find good salad dressings that are still nice and light. I’ll be sure to give your favorite Newman’s Own a try the next time I’m at the grocery store.

I really do like Wallaby’s also. I think the thinness of it is so unique, like the opposite end of the spectrum from Greek yogurt!

Favorite new product… hmm… I’ve been loving Almond & Coconut Kind bars lately. 🙂

  6. What a great question! I need to start asking questions on my blog, the answers are always so fun!

Favorite new discovery would be either the gnocchi I put up on my blog last week or these crunchy green bean snacks I picked up at the register at TJs. They were just dried, crunchy green beans and completely satisfied that crunchy munchy potato chip craving without being all fatty and greasy.

  7. I’d love to know how the Whole Foods ginger dressing compares to the Newman’s Own. You know I’m totally addicted to that stuff too 😉 And the tuna jerky–yum. I’ve never tried it but I love tuna and I love jerky…what’s not to like?!

  8. ooh! I love those Indian products from tasty bites! but they’re so costly I only wait for them to go on sale, which is rarely. so sad.
hmm…fav new product? I don’t really buy products…but I’m dying to try the WCMN luna bar!

  9. yummy looking salad! i’m one of those people who loves salad dressings and am happy to use calories for a good one, so i’m interested in all the different ones you got!

  10. Hi Maggie
I love your blog..Ilove tracking my eating habits too..it’s a real eye opener sometimes and a great tool

I eat a lot of salads (in the summer) and don’t often put a store bought dressing on it… If I do have dressing, I either make it out of some balsalmic, olive oil, a good mustard (like a good dijon) lemon juice..maybe s/p to taste..whisk it up and MMM

or if I am too lazy to do that I LOVE to crumble a little goat cheese or some other very flavorful cheese (just for the punch)

but that’s just me… i’ve never tried the Newman’s dressing but it sounds good… Annie’s makes a shitake mushroom dressing that is to die for and when I find that one in the store I always stock up on it.

Iwanted to thank you for your links to the yoga sites… I am enjoying the yoga today one quite a bit..it’s different every day and available any time I have some “yoga time”

    Cindy

  11. I didn’t know there was such thing as tuna jerky!

I recently discovered the goodness that is baked brie on crackers 😀
