As each year passes I realize that I’m becoming more and more like my mom. I was never into fitness (food, yes; fitness, no!) until about a year ago. My mom has been going to step/spin/cardio classes since before I was born. She has found time every single week to get to the gym for my entire life. She’s a role model for healthy living and fitness. She also loves her yoga – but I got her into that!

My mom loves to cook and makes creative vegetarian meals all the time (both my siblings are veggies; Rob is a vegetarian and Julia is a vegan). When I was young she let me play in the kitchen without nagging me to be careful and not make a mess. She let me learn on my own.

My mom let me dress myself. (Not that I would have let anyone dress me. I was very… “independent” as a child.) She gave me so much freedom and I am so grateful for it.
My mom is my best friend, and I miss her.
I love you, Mom!

very cute. i had mashed tofu baby food, so i feel you on the veggie upbringing.
cute pics!
such a sweet post Maggie. I feel the same, as I get older, I feel closer and more like my Mom, not that she’s fitness/healthy conscious, but she’s so wise and so optimistic about life. I’m so glad that I’m learning that from her.
That picture of dad looking angry always gives me a laugh. I can’t give enough credit to mom for raising us healthily and without any of the other junk the world was putting out in the 90′s (especially monitoring the food we bought by the amount of packaging used in the product). It’s pretty amazing how shes managed to juggle all of the various things she has going on in her life and still keep her head on straight.
By the way, as soon as I have a dishwasher to clean up my messes again, I am totally making this –
