A Day in the Life…

I haven’t done one of these in ages. This is (almost) everything I ate yesterday. This is an example of a high-raw day…

When I woke up I did rebounding for 30 minutes. Then I tried to make something good with leftover pulp that I’ve been collecting. I spread it out on pans and baked it at 190F with the oven cracked open.

20 pulp

While that was cooking I made green juice: 1/2 granny smith apple, celery, napa cabbage, romaine, mint, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 lemon, big knob of ginger.

21 juice veggies

Then I dropped my camera and broke it. Crap. I found my old camera and it still works. Here’s what came out of those luscious greens. My old camera is not so great. It’s a Canon PowerShot SD110. It’s actually held up kind of well, considering it’s from 2004.

22 juice

That’s a lot of liquid. (TWSS.) When the pulp came out of the oven a few hours later, it was not good. It’s in the trash. Don’t try that at home. Around the time of the pulp flop, I made a nice raw favorite salad: iceberg, red leaf lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, raw corn, salsa, and liquid gold elixir (olive oil, bragg’s, rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar, stevia, garlic).

Later Bobby came home because he lost his job. We ate our sorrows away… no, we just ate snap peas and more liquid gold elixir (see above). More than pictured. Also green beans. Before this bit of yum we walked to and from the grocery store (<1 mile roundtrip) to get stuff for juices.

24 pea snack

And then I made a dinner salad that was identical to the lunch salad except this one had purple cabbage and a whole big avocado made into guacamole (just add salsa and mash). Had to go back for more.

We watched a few episodes of Dexter before I had a juice craving. This one was more of a dessert juice. It had celery, 1/2 cucumber, an Asian pear, 1/2 fuji apple, 1/2 lime, and mint.

26 more juice veggies

So good. Bobby loves juicing almost as much as I do. We each had one full glass and then I had what was left, plus the foam (nom).

He also loves frozen cantaloupe and kept stealing mine! So I had to get more. A lot more.

28 frozen cantaloupe

I did manage to tear myself away from Dexter and the frozen fruit for a few minutes to write about why we have silent k’s (like knight, knee, etc…). Click for more.

This morning I did a 75-minute Dave Farmar power yoga class (5/18/09) thanks to Coco’s suggestion. It was fantastic – a great workout. I haven’t done a full length yoga class in ages and I definitely want to start up again.

Now I might play a game with Bobby soon (Scrabble or Miami Monopoly). Do you ever play board games?

  1. YUMMY FOOD! I love seeing what you eat in a day. Everything looks so heathy and inspiring.

So sorry about Bobby’s job! I’m wishing you both the best of luck with everything!

  2. Aww, poor Bobby πŸ™ Maybe you could use the pulp in muffins or cake or something? idk.
I still love playing The Garden Game. That’s probably still my favorite πŸ™‚

  3. I’m amazed how fresh and raw you’re eating Maggie! I’m actually jealous!!! πŸ˜€ I want to do a “detox” when I go back to my normal life and can’t think a better way to do a lot of juices and salads!!!
glad you tried that class, you made me miss yoga too!! (I haven’t done any since I came here).
NO kabocha? that’s actually what amazed me more!! πŸ˜€ hahaha……

poor Bobby, I hope you guys are okay (I mean, not too worried about it).

  4. I have to throw out my pulp every single day because when I used to put it in the garbage it made the entire kitchen smell so badly!

  5. So sorry about Bobby…hopefully it will be one of those things where it turns into a good thing since maybe he will find something even better πŸ™‚

Also, I have tried to dry pulp too…. NO DICE. It’s freaking nasty…. yeah. I have a dehydrator now so maybe it will work better now?? I need an awesome recipe since I am pretty reluctant.

Also, so glad your tummy troubles are gone! Mine has been ok since Saturday too, yay for us!

  6. Sorry to hear about the pulp fail and Bobby’s loss of job!!! πŸ™

    I’ve never tried frozen cantaloupe.

We looove board games! I think my favorite is probably Scattegories! πŸ™‚

  7. hi maggie,

your food is too overhwelmingly awesome for me to take in right now, so ill comment on games. i used to like yahtzee and boggle. i like scrabble too…i love that “making words” type crap. my sister and i played Life endlessly as kids and teens, and chutes and ladders and candyland were definately the best back in the day…sigh good times.

so sorry about bobby’s job…does he have anything lined up or is he searching?

  8. Oooh, juicing napa cabbage is a new idea! How was it? Juicy?

I drink the juice foam, too! Yay! I thought I was a weirdo for doing that. I mean, we drink the foam on lattes, right? πŸ˜‰

MIGHT be acquiring a rebounder (hand me down) this weekend. I am crossing my fingers!

  9. love all the fresh foods! i’m so sorry to hear about bobby’s job – it’s so tough out there right now. i hope things take a turn for the better soon.
