First Day Of Work

Remember that good news I mentioned the other day? Or maybe you wondered why I suddenly moved into Manhattan this weekend? I started my new job today. I’m a kind of marketing analyst for a small startup. So far – awesome.

This morning I woke up jittery so I went out for a jog. I did about 1.75 miles (?). When I got back I picked up my breakfast from Metro Cafe – a 12 ounce oatmeal made with skim milk + cinnamon, banana, and blueberries.

I finished it, but it wasn’t very good. I’m not getting it again. What the what Metro Cafe? I’ll stick with your bagels. Tomorrow’s breakfast is going to be instant grits from a hotel we stayed at on the road trip. Hehehe.

After a long day at work I opted for the hot foods bar at a random deli on my way home (I walked; about 1.5 miles or so). I met up with Bobby in the middle. (He got pizza.) I dumped honey mustard dressing on this.

This meal was kind of oily but really good. I had grilled chicken, random prepared salads (something with broccoli, one with mushrooms, a sealeg salad, tomatoes, etc…), a sweet potato (I think), and some other things that I can’t remember right now.

Dessert was rice with honey mustard dressing (a little random) and these carob chips that my sister gave me. Um… more than pictured. I might still be eating them now.

I’m off to snuggle and get some rest before work tomorrow. I apologize for the lack of commenting as of late; I’m sorry to say it’s going to continue. I’m still reading of course.

What was your favorite job?

  1. Call me crazy, but I loved checking groceries, more than being an attorney. But not more than being a mom/blogger πŸ™‚ Hope it continues to go well, girlie!

  2. Hey! I”m so excited for you! New York must be amazing! I would love to hear more about your job since my degree is Marketing. I’m only sort of using it for my family business but my main priority is the interpreting. Though I do mostly interpreting for market research and have actually contacted a bunch of research facilities in NY recently to start getting work there πŸ™‚
I loved all the hot food bars in NY too, it was soo simple to eat out last time I visited!
I can’t wait to read/ talk to you more about your new life!
And also, you look GORGEOUS in the wedding photo πŸ˜€
Hope you have a great turkey/ tofurkey day!

  3. Maggie,
Sounds like you are both enjoying life in the city thus far, and I can’t wait to hear more about your new job, and you should post some pics of your new place once you get all settled in.

Kind of jealous of all the walking you will do everyday. Some days I wished I live in a more metropolitan area. I really need to walk and ride my bike more often.

I love those random hot food bars in NYC. Some of the selections are amazing!

Any plans Jan. 7 – 10? Let me know. πŸ˜‰

  4. How fun! Glad you’re trying tons of places to get your feel of what the good ones are!

I think in memory my favorite job that stands out was a summer I scooped ice cream! We had massive lines that would wrap around the boardwalk, sometimes ppl would wait in line for 2 hrs (not sure why…) so it was a lot of fun. We blasted music, and it was like a small family. We also would get in these random moods where we decided certain days were costume days and come into work decked out in costumes for no rhyme or reason, but to just have fun!

  5. Ok, somehow I missed that you were actually MOVING last weekend. I read about the wedding, etc and just didn’t get it! Oh no! That means we will JUST be missing each other in the Bay Area πŸ™
Nevertheless, I am so happy and excited for you!!

  6. Congratulations on your job! It’s even better that you enjoy it so much. πŸ™‚ I never thought of putting honey mustard on rice, lol (furikake for me!). Those carob chips look mighty tasty πŸ˜‰

  7. so glad to know that you’re having good time in your new job and new city! like Heather says I miss living in a city when I can walk to everywhere! πŸ™‚

  8. So glad it went well πŸ™‚
My favorite job was either running a coffee shop (loved it) or being a cocktail waitress in a nightclub for the summer of my 21st birthday. My ideal job would be to work in a bakery, do something with writing/food/sports from home or even check out groceries at a health food store (if it still paid the bills). I would rather be semi-poor and happy than witchy and rich (although I would mind the opportunity…)

  9. So happy you live here now! Excited to eat japanese pumpkin sandwiches with you and can’t wait to give you the week long SCLA passes. πŸ™‚

  10. Glad that the job is awesome so far! And I totally eat chocolate chips the same way — dump them into a somewhat small container…however, I always manage to refill it….haha <3 chocolate.
