Here are 3 wishes of mine that will never come true no matter how much I want them to:
- Uncomfortable but insanely cute shoes make you burn infinitely more calories. (Nope, not true yet. I’ve tried.)
- Avoiding wedding planning will make everything magically fall into place on its own. (So far this hasn’t worked…)
- Staying up late adds hours to the day and you can still get 7-8 hours of sleep a night when you go to bed at 3am. (I cannot get this to come true no matter how many times I try.)
But here are 4 facts that I don’t even have to wish for, because they are magically true already. These are almost too good to be true.
- Avocado tastes sinfully delicious, but instead of being sinful it gives me boundless energy and good skin. This is the avocado shrimp sandwich from Souen in Soho (where I saw Dr. Cuddy). My mom got this on Saturday when she came in for brunch (which was almost too late to be brunch – it was close to 3pm).
- Macrobiotic meals are happiness. Like this macro plate with extra kabocha minus the rice. (Kale, kabocha, hijiki, beans, broccoli, carrot.)
- Smoothies with coconut milk kefir are good for your skin. Coconut fat is my very favorite fat for improved skin. It gets rid of my acne (my skin is *clear*), makes my tummy happy, and tastes delicious. Eating them in a jar makes them even better for you. (Okay, that’s not true, but it is a cool presentation. I drink everything from jars.)
- Healthy eating will make you and your spouse both live very long happy lives together. It makes me so happy to see Bobby eating food like Souen‘s Broccoli Tofu with brown rice, which is basically a macrobiotic vegan tofu scramble. I am so looking forward to the rest of our lives together.
What are your 3 wishes? My real wish is that I could have infinite wishes and then I’d wish for whatever I wanted all the time.
P.S. Operation Wedding is updated!
I love your huge plates of yummy food like the beans, kabocha, and broccoli. There are a lot of times I FEEL in the mood for plates like that, but I eat other things with it. I guess I think I need more protein or a well-balanced plate or something. I really should take a cue from you and start listening to my body more when I want things like that.
pretty sure your wish #2 and #3 would be on my list. and i’d also like a money tree, thanks.
xo!
ahhh souen is my favorite restaurant ever!!! last summer i was working in new york and i ate at souen (the union square one which is now closed for renovation…so sad) almost every night…. the kabocha squash with the miso tahini drssing is to die for… i ordered a huge side of that every night! the avocado sandwich looks so good – ill have to try that sometime! i also really like their baked goods. my favorite dish their is actually a seasonal dish, which they only have once in awhile in october/november – it’s a curry that they cook in a pumpkin (and they serve it in the pumpkin as a bowl!), and it is SO delicious!
Hahaha I’m so with you re: planning a wedding. I think it’s because it’s in Arizona and my mom lives there – I’ve really let her take the lead on some of the “research.” I’ve been helping where I can, but it’s hard not being there! I guess there are more visits to AZ in my future, right?
Love the looks of that tofu with rice – and I love what you said about you and Bobby living happily ever after 🙂
Haha whenever I get asked “If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?” I ALWAYS answer “infinite wishes!” Then I’d happily wish away 😀
The eats look so good. Kabocha = love.
Wei-Wei
Maggie, Souen must be your regular hang-out place! how many times have you been here already? lol.
Three wishes:
1) Exam is over already
2) I can function with no sleep
3) I can function even when I’m full to the brim
I also LOVE avocados, and I get so happy inside when my husband eats healthy. He often chooses these soy corndogs to eat, which aren’t the healthiest, but I just think it’s so cool that he’s chosen certain vegetarian options (compared to what he used to eat, this is a great step up).
I don’t think I have 3 wishes. I just said to my husband the other day that I’m at a phase in life when I don’t really want much, in a good way. Things are awesome, and I don’t find myself clinging to anything in particular. 3 silly wishes would be: 1) My cat would stop leaving poop on her butt, 2) I’d have an errand boy, and 3) I’d sleep soundly every single night.
Extra kabocha and no rice – exactly what I would have ordered. No, actually, I think I might have gotten your mom’s sandwich as that looks creamy and DELICIOUS!
Let’s see, 3 wishes…
1) That both of my dogs would magically stop shedding.
2) That my house would clean itself.
3) That all the flood damage in Nashville would be gone. 🙁
I would have the same wish as you and then all my wishes would come true for the rest of my life 🙂
i wish #2 were the case…oh how i wish…
