I saw this on Erin’s blog and decided to do my own. My first thing is shared by Erin.
1. I am tall too. I am 5’9.75″ (… rounded up to 5’10” usually). But I do love my heels. On my wedding day I wore bare feet. Bobby is 6’1″.
2. I am a sometimes vegetarian. I don’t eat much meat, but I can’t say I am fully vegetarian because I make exceptions every so often for things like Bacon Chocolate.
3. My favorite kind of exercise is yoga. This morning I did a 20 minute yoga session from yogadownload.com – Gentle Hatha Yoga #3. On Friday I took the day off from work and in the morning I did Crunch Super Slimdown with Ellen Barrett on Netflix. It’s a combination of yoga and pilates. Love! (My yoga recs here.)
4. I have a love-hate relationship with coffee. I love it, but I hate that when I start drinking it every day I get a headache when I wake up until I have my caffeine fix. I suppose this is what they call an addiction. My favorite kind of coffee right now is made by Stumptown Coffee (based in Portland, Oregon). I ordered the coffee online. I grind it with a burr grinder and brew it in a French press.

5. I have a love hate relationship with shopping, too. I love it, but I don’t like to spend $$. My favorite store is Anthropologie and I also like to browse random thrift shops. I used to like Gap, but I’ve found recently that a) I don’t really like the Gap style anymore, b) their clothes seem cheap-ish as of late, and c) I don’t usually wear the stuff I get there (especially when I buy something simply because it’s on sale). I worked at Gap briefly at the end of college and that is how I got hooked.
6. I can never make up my mind about anything. Sometimes I am perfectly happy the way I am and other times I want to travel or go do the Peace Corps. Sometimes I want a kid; sometimes I think I would be happy forever with just me and Bobby and the cats. Sometimes I want to live in Manhattan forever; other times I want to buy a farm in the middle of nowhere and eat eggs from organic chickens that I raise myself. Sometimes I want to blog every day; other times I stop blogging for a week or 2. It’s confusing. But I think everyone feels this way in some way or another.
7. I keep stealing Bobby’s new iPad. He already knows that. He got a book by Ken Jennings (of Jeopardy! fame) – Brainiac – and I cannot put it down. I was never into trivia but now I think it’s kind of cool.
What are your 7 things?
Leave them in the comments or blog about it. You’re all tagged 🙂
P.S. I cleaned up the blog a bit. It’s streamlined and organized better. Click through if you want to take a peek.
Love yoga and Vosges chocolate as well 😀
Stumptown coffee is one of my all-time favorites. I was introduced to it when visiting Matt’s family in Portland for one of the first times. No joke, part of the reason we chose the hotel we chose for our wedding party was the location of a Stumptown in the lobby (and record players in the rooms!).
I didn’t realize it could be ordered online until you posted this, so thank you! Now i have a good anniversary present to get for him. 🙂
@Becca: Cool! Definitely order it 🙂 Another good one to try is Intelligentsia – http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/
I am with you on so many of these things! I had my first coffee in months today and I was like “you better not get used to this body” but it was so so good. I also eat mostly veggie but lately am all about steak, who knew?
1. i treat myself to regular coffee 1x weekly, any other time i crave it i buy decaf + a little soy or almond milk
2. i despise cardio.
3. since quitting cardio, i dropped 10lbs?! wtf right? i guess i was hungry like a tiger then or something running those 30mpw a few years back
4. my fave store is anthro too!
5. i bought my first pair of harem pants today and i actually love them, super flattering!
6. i’ve always wanted to be 5’7 but i’m only 5’4.5 :/
7. i want to live in paris for a few years.
@melissa: i hate cardio too! (except walking)
You are adorable.
Here are 7 things today about me.
1. I love music with swear words. Sometimes.
2. I always wanted to be named Maryanne.
3. When I get really sad or stressed out, I go to Walgreens and I buy nuts. (They were not on sale today, boo.)
4. When I was a baby, my grandpa gave me pink whale (still have it) that winds up and plays “Tiny Bubbles.”
5. I sometimes think animal testing might be OK, I think. But I don’t have some “case” or plan about it. I just wonder if it comes down to something saving my loved one’s life vs. a rats life…I mean don’t stick it with hot pokers or torture it but doing medicine studies…I don’t know.
6. I was a master in college at Dr. Mario.
7. I can’t decide which nuts to eat now that I’ve bought a few different ones. Sigh.
@clare: I hope your day got better! (Assuming you were sad or stressed since you were looking for them today and they weren’t on sale.) I’m with you on #5 too, I think… I don’t know. Such a hard issue to pick a side on.
I love that bacon chocolate!
While I do like coffee, it’s one of those things I don’t care if I have to go without. It’s nice in the morning, but in more of a comforting ritual way.
I missed your post and you Maggie!!!
I love #6, don’t know why though 😉
I will do this fun post too!
Bacon chocolate? That sounds sickening to me! Put that down as one of my 7 things! LOL But to each their own! 🙂
I can totally identify with what you said for #6! I’m the same way, and my opinions on “what to do” seem to swing wildly in short amounts of time.
But I’m starting to realize something interesting — that maybe (about some things) it’s okay to want to do or try a bunch of different things. Maybe our apparently inability to make up our minds really means that we enjoy trying lots of wonderful life experiences!
I’m so glad you did this Maggie! Did I ever send you that article about Maximizing vs. Satisficing – a way of conceptualizing decision-making?! You definitely sound like a maximizer! It’s way interesting!
Also, yeah Portland!
@Erin: Oo wait is that from The Paradox of Choice?! I have heard of those terms before, definitely want to read the article! Send it along if you can find it 🙂
Fun facts!!! Chocolate covered bacon sounds intriguing….
Wonderful random facts, Maggie! I’m as tall as you (and often felt awkward about it when I was younger), and I also have problems with coffee. Bacon chocolate? Never heard of that! 😀
I still don’t know how to live when I’m old, but I know I want to try to get into academia at least. It took me several years to figure that out, so I know the feeling of indecisivess you write about very well myself. Funny, but an academic career doesn’t allow for any planning, because it’s hard to get a long-term job, and you never know where you’ll end up or if it works at all, so that decision made my idea about future not any more assessable at all.
I’ve posted a few random facts about me on my blog a little while ago, and if you like, you can read them here. http://myfunnylittlelife.com/2011/02/28/a-little-bit-more-about-me/
Oh, and I really like the new and cleaner design of you blog! 🙂
I really relate to you on number 6. 🙂
I am terribly indecisive, especially about my life path. I know what I want generally, but there are so many ways I could get there…Sigh…
I loveeee that bacon chocolate!! Its the only dessert my bf eats!!!
And i’m totally obsessed with my ipad. I love those covers too! I have the navy one.
I am obsessed with Yoga, too! 😀
Hey Maggie!
I thought your blog was taken down…must have the other link..
I don’t know.
my list could be yours word for word, although, I’m short (well, next to you I am…5’6 and not a smidgen more…darnit!)
I love to be a quasi-vegitarian but I love fish and some times a bite of beef calls my name.
I love yoga…love love love AND I need to run. I am a walking contradiction. That’s for sure!
4, 5 and 6 are like you were talking to me (except I am not considering med school) but I still don’t know what I want to do with my life so I am just doing what I am doing.
🙂
Also, I have my own iPad that everyone steals from ME.
Glad I re-found you love!
be well
